Why I Love the 5th District
The 5th District of Florida or, as I often refer to it, the "Great 8" is an amazingly diverse region in West-Central Florida. Below are just a few examples of why I love this District and am thrilled to be a part of the community.
- It is the most populated congressional district in Florida
- We border the Gulf of Mexico on the Nature Coast
- The District runs just above Tampa; almost all the way over to Orlando and then north, close to Gainesville, and back over to the West Coast
- There are several bedroom communities, or "suburbs" of the major cities Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville in the 5th District
- Citrus County, in the center of the 5th district, has the historic fishing village of Homosassa Springs
- Traveling north on I-75, some of the most pristine farmland, in the country, can be seen in Levy County
- We boast one of the largest active adult communities in the country; The Villages of course
- We also can't forget about Hernando County being home to Weeki Wachee State Park and the famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids!
Florida's 5th District has it all and deserves nationwide recognition in Congress
